Jungle Fever Bank Holiday Special: club review

Written by  Zoe Wilson

Core resident party girl, Zoe Wilson, gives us her lowdown on some of the country's best events:

Sunday 6th May saw madness and mayhem down at Fire in Vauxhall, London, with the return of the Bank Holiday special from Jungle Fever!

This promised to be an absolute barnstormer of a night, just from first glance at the lineup. After all, any night that includes such heavyweights from the jump up scene as Hazard, Hype, Kenny Ken, Brockie, Billy Daniel Bunter, Nicky Blackmarket and many more across five arenas of drum and bass, jungle, old skool and urban party beats, was bound to be lots of fun.

The club itself was like an absolute maze, which resulted in frequently getting lost trying to find the outside chill out area (which served up some mighty fine chicken!) - however, as each of the rooms was playing banging music, this was no great hardship. Early on in the evening there
were a few issues with sound quality and distortion that, to be honest, almost spoilt it for us as it was hard to enjoy the music. DJ Hype played an absolutely banging set, but unfortunately, the sound levels made it hard to enjoy it as much as we should have done.

However, this was rectified before much more of the evening passed, and the highlights of the evening in the main room have got to be Kenny Ken and Hazard, both of whom absolutely nailed it. Even after all these years, Kenny Ken remains very much in touch with what our fellow DnB ravers are looking for in a night, and his set was absolutely spot on. By the time Hazard came on the crowd were thoroughly warmed up and went absolutely mental. DJ Sly followed and did not slow the pace one bit, before Nicky Blackmarket showed the club just why he has been such a big name in this scene for so many years.

This night was lots of fun, and I can safely say the guys at Jungle Fever sure know how to throw a party!
