The multi-talented and multi-awardwinning Bjork is the first headline act to be announced for next summer’s Heineken Open’er Festival, for her first appearance at the event in five years.
The Open’er is the biggest outdoor music and culture festival to be staged in Poland, and this year takes place between 4th and 7th July. 60,000 revellers will be in attendance at the festival, at the Kosakowo Airfield in Gdynia.

Bjork has been confirmed in what will be her first festival slot of summer 2012. She last appeared at Open’er back in 2007, and next summer’s set will see tracks from this year’s Biophilia album. The album, the Icelander’s seventh, is Bjork’s deepest work to date, delving even further into her sound and her heart, further highlighting her aesthetic and power. A complete immersion into her universe, the album has won critical acclaim from all over the globe. Mikolaj Ziolkowski from the festival describes her as: “an artist that is exquisite, unique and truly one-of-a-kind. An artist that uncloses and transgresses searches and inspires.”

If you needed a reason to check out the Open’er, surely a chance to see Bjork in such an amazing setting is just it. More names are set to be announced imminently for what promises to be a truly original vintage festival. The Kosakowo airfield is a 75-hectare site in Gdynia, a city on the Baltic coast in the north of Poland. The festival will contain seven stages, over 100 artists, a whole festival town complete with merchandising and gastro zones, campsites, multimedia areas, and an itinerary of film, theatre and other live performances.

There are a number of ticket options, depending on what your preferences are. Early bird tickets for Klub Alter Art members are available now, up until the end of November. General release tickets go on sale at that point, so make sure you check www.opener.pl/en for full details.
