Korg iPad Apps. Ok, they are a bit expensive but go a check them out. They can communicate via WIST technology, a Wi-Fi midi stop start app, and they look totally having it! I think they can be used alongside Ableton and thats really what I'm after from an iPad app now. I've had enough of toys, I want something serious that I can actually use on the road to write tracks.

I have just bought them both and I'll be back to this article soon with my honest opinion of them but for now I'll say that I think they look set to kill the totally rubbish (IMO) NI Maschine App straight off the bat. There are three apps in total: the Electribe 101, which is a faithful representation of the famous 1990's Korg drum machine, the Ms20, which is focused on the much older MS20 synth from years gone by, and a Gorillaz app which has been put together with sounds from the Gorillaz apparently (the band not the animal) to help you make your own pop record (like they do only not quite as good, which unfortunately makes it a toy, but there you go).

No, they're not cheap and being apps you have to get them from Apple app store (£22 for the MS20 and £12 for the Electribe). The user reviews are good so wish me luck!!

Check them out here
